Milan, december 6th 2007: Moncler is proud to announce that with effect from the opening of the winter season in St. Moritz, coming up on the 08th of December, it will be the official partner of the Swiss Skiing School of St. Moritz, the first and largest skiing school in Switzerland.
“The mountain is the soul of Moncler. The brand can boast many high altitude conquests: in 1954, Moncler jackets were chosen for outfitting the Italian expedition to Karakorum, which culminated with the conquest of the world’s second highest summit; in 1955 it accompanied the French expedition which reached the top of Makalù (8470 metres); in 1964 the brand was the official supplier to one of the first expeditions to Alaska; in 1968 it was appointed official supplier of the French national downhill skiing team which participated in the Winter Olympics in Grenoble. And being the sponsor of one of the most prestigious skiing schools today means we are continuing in this great tradition of ours,” declared Remo Ruffini, President and Creative Director of Moncler.
The partnership between Moncler and the Swiss Skiing School of St. Moritz has produced an exclusive ski outfit, for male and female, designed specifically for the 280 skiing instructors of the school. The outfit is made up of jacket, trousers and a fleece which guarantee wearers the height of comfort for facing the various skiing disciplines in any weather conditions.
The jacket and trousers are in a special Oxford-weave fabric which, in addition to being outstandingly tear-resistant, is completely waterproof.
Made using a stretch nap fabric, the fleece has been designed to allow complete flexibility of movement and total breathability, both of which are vital characteristics for garments used for technical and competitive purposes.
Moncler upper sport style on the one hand and the teachers’ technical experience in the field on the other have produced unique garments. With their perfect blend of style and performance, they will be “conquering“ the renowned pistes of St. Moritz from December 2007.
“This partnership is just the beginning as far as the Moncler brand is concerned. We intend to create a network of “all-Moncler” ski schools through new team efforts with the skiing schools of the most exclusive international ski resorts”, added Remo Ruffini.
Now all we have to do is wait for the skiing season to start…Everyone hit the pistes!
The Swiss Skiing School of St. Moritz was established in 1929 when Giovanni Testa, a passionate skier from the Engadina region, brought together a number of men who were trained to teach the sport.
Skiing evolves constantly, and the Skiing School’s teachers are constantly perfecting their various techniques, ranging from Telemark to the “leaning turn”, “Stemmbogen”, “Cristiania”, the parallel curve and today’s Carving.
At present, the Swiss Skiing School of St. Moritz numbers 280 teachers amongst its ranks, originating from 12 countries.
The school offers everything from traditional private lessons to courses for the disabled.
The teachers are constantly updated to ensure that the Swiss Snowsports programmes are scrupulously adhered to, and they speak multiple languages so that they can satisfy the needs of the international clientele.
The lessons offered include the following types of snowsport equipment: skis, snowboards, Telemark skis, freestyle skis and Nordic skis.
